William
Kennedy
Having previously
worked in the international development assistance field for 10 years,
Mr. Kennedy joined UNFIP in May 1998 where he is primarily responsible
for co-management of the environment portfolio with the UN Foundation,
including the sustainable energy and climate change programme and the
biodiversity programme. He brings considerable experience in project development
and management having worked with several NGOs and UN agencies, including
CARE, the Industry Council for Development, the UN Non-Governmental Liaison
Service, the UN Office for Emergency Operations in Africa, and the Electoral
Assistance Division of the Department of Political Affairs. Mr. Kennedy
has managed a range of development projects in a variety of fields, including
private sector development, natural resource management, electoral assistance
to post-conflict societies, and emergency preparedness planning, and has
worked in several African countries, including Kenya, Sudan, Zambia and
Namibia. He holds a BA from Bowdoin College and a Masters of Public Policy
and Administration from the School of International and Public Affairs
at Columbia University. In addition, he has completed all coursework for
the Master’s degree in International Affairs.
