Duncan Marsh

Duncan Marsh is the United Nations Foundation’s senior program officer for climate change and sustainable energy. He manages the diverse UNF portfolio of energy efficiency, renewable energy and clean energy finance projects in developing countries. He also advises on UNF’s contribution to climate change and energy policy development at the national and international levels. Prior to joining UNF in 2003, Mr. Marsh worked for Natsource LLC, the emissions trading brokerage and consultancy, on greenhouse gas markets and international climate change policy issues. From 1997 to 2001, Mr. Marsh was with the U.S. Department of State’s climate change team, where he was lead U.S. negotiator for the technology transfer and international aviation and maritime emissions aspects of the international climate change negotiations. He also focused on financing and capacity building for developing country participation in climate change mitigation efforts. Mr. Marsh served on U.S. delegations to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), U.N. Commission on Sustainable Development, the International Civil Aviation Organization and the Climate Technology Initiative. He also has worked as a consultant for the UNFCCC Secretariat and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and as an English teacher at Tunghai University in Taichung, Taiwan. Mr. Marsh is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Mr. Marsh holds an MS in Environmental Science and a Master of Public Affairs from Indiana University, where he focused on environmental economics and international environmental policy, and a BA in politics and government from the University of Puget Sound.
